Fuori! Number zero, December 1971

Our center

It was born in Bologna in 1982 as a community archive: its goal was to collect, preserve and share historical and cultural records of the movement, and to promote memory and active awareness of LGBTI+ history. The Center – a library, video library and archive – is now one of the main curators of Italian LGBTI+ archival sources, as well as one of the most relevant in Europe with a focus on the themes of sexuality, homosexuality and gender identity. It is part of the National Librarian Service (SBN) and the Regional librarian organization on the basis of the convention with Emilia-Romagna Region (L.R. 18/2000). Since 2018, the Center has been declared as especially relevant from a historical interest pursuant to and in accordance with art. 13 of D.Lgs.22 nd January 2004, n. 42, Codice dei beni culturali e del paesaggio.

The Documentation Center is dedicated to Flavia Madaschi.
