Info and services
In order to borrow materials from the library, you have to be registered to the Pole of Bolognese libraries and show either the Tessera Unica dell’Istituzione Biblioteche (Unified Card of Librarian Institution) of Bologna Municipality, or an ID card. If you don’t have the Card, you can activate it directly in our library or through the dedicated page of Catalogo SBN UBO, by signing into your personal space (top right of the page) through the “My library account” button.
Through the option “not registered yet” proceed by inserting your personal data and you’ll receive a code to access the services.
We take requests for information and bibliographic consultation both through our email doc@cassero.it or phone number 051.0957214, and through the 24/7 online reference service “Chiedilo al bibliotecario” (Ask the librarian).
We also give digital copies of sections from our documents to users and other libraries in accordance with current copyright laws, thus up to 15% of a document for scholastic and personal research reasons.
This excludes texts that may be damaged by scanning procedures, while you can only have a copy of the index or bibliography of a graduation thesis.
Requests can be made directly at the library, by email, or by phone during opening hours.
Loans for books and audiovisual materials last 30 days.
You can borrow up to 5 documents.
Materials in the Center excluded from loaning are: magazines, graduation thesis’, materials in precarious conditions, and materials currently being consulted in the library.
Anyone can return them in person.
Returning documents through insured shipment by previous agreement with the library is only allowed in specific instances.
In order to consult the documents in the archive, it’s better to book an appointment by calling 051.0957214 or writing an email to doc@cassero.it and specify what you want to consult specifically.

As soon as the document will be available, you will be contacted by phone or e-mail and the document will be available for the following 5 working days.
An extension of your loan can be requested through the same means – by phone, email, or in person.
An extension is 15 days long and must be requested before your loan expires.
You can’t extend your loan if the document has already been requested by another user.

The Intersystem Circulating Loan (PIC) allows you to reserve the documents unavailable in your chosen library for free from any library that is part of the service.
A book you’re interested in is not in your library? Check the Catalogue of Bolognese Pole SBN UBO to see which libraries part of the PIC have a copy, and make a reservation so the book you want will be brought to the library of your choice.
You can use this service for three documents at most, and the books you reserved will be available from Friday each week. Multimedia materials such as DVDs and CDs are excluded from the service.
As soon as the documents you requested will be available in your library, you’ll be notified by phone or email.

- You are personally responsible for the materials you take on loan and consultation
- Before you borrow, you must check whether the document is intact and report possible anomalies to the library staff. If no previous reports occurred, damages to the document will be considered responsibility of the user, and they’ll have to provide for reparations according to what the library’s direction will judge fitting
- You agree to treat documents with respect, not to underline or damage the documents: any potential damage will result in re-purchasing the document in accordance with the library
- You commit to return the documents you borrowed in time. If you are late in returning them, loan services will be suspended for you following these rules: no suspension up until 15 days of delay, then the number of days of suspension will be proportional to the amount of days of delay.
